What ages do you teach?

I primarily teach kids and teens ages 7 and up with lessons tailored to the individual student's age, experience, goals, and vocal development. I also work with older teens and adults who want to strengthen their voice, prepare for auditions, or simply become a more confident performer. My goal is always to meet the singer where they are and help them grow from there.

Do you teach beginners?

Yes! You do not need to already be a “good singer” to begin voice lessons. In fact, lessons can be especially valuable when a singer is just beginning because we can establish healthy vocal habits from the start. I also work with more experienced singers who are ready to refine their technique or prepare for more advanced performance opportunities. I create a supportive environment where students can experiment, make mistakes, ask questions, and build confidence without feeling pressured to be perfect.

How often should I take lessons?

For most students, weekly lessons are the best way to build consistency and make steady progress. The voice develops over time, and regular lessons allow us to reinforce healthy technique rather than trying to cram everything into occasional sessions. That said, I understand that every family's schedule is different, so we can talk about what frequency makes the most sense for you and your goals.

Does my child need to be in musical theater?

Not at all! While musical theater is a major part of my teaching background, students don't have to be involved in a show to benefit from lessons. I work with singers who love musical theater, students who simply love to sing, and young performers who want to develop their voices for choir, auditions, recitals, or other performance opportunities. We can tailor lessons to what your child genuinely enjoys.

Do you help singers prepare for auditions?

Yes! Audition preparation is one of my favorite parts of teaching musical theater students. We can work on everything from vocal technique and song interpretation to character choices, audition cuts, confidence, and performance presence. Because I have experience both as a professional performer and as a director and teaching artist, I can help students understand not only how to sing the song, but how to tell the story and make strong choices in the audition room.

Absolutely. Choosing the right audition song can make a huge difference. I can help you  select material that is appropriate for your age, voice, experience, and the character or production you are auditioning for. We'll look beyond simply finding a song you can sing and consider what allows you to show who you are as a performer.

What happens during a typical lesson?

Every lesson is different because every voice is different. We typically begin with vocal warm ups and exercises designed to help the student develop healthy technique, coordination, flexibility, breath support, and confidence. From there, we'll apply those skills to songs the student is working on, focusing on musicality, storytelling, character, and performance. My goal is for students to understand why we're doing something—not simply copy what I'm asking them to do—so they can become more independent and confident singers.

Where are lessons held?

Private lessons are taught in person at Act Too Players in Franklin, Tennessee, where I also serve as a staff director and choreographer. The environment is designed to support  performers and gives students a wonderful connection to the musical theater community. What do voice lessons cost?

Private voice lessons are $40 for a 30-minute lesson.
